On April 11, leaders of Founder Group, including its Chairman Wei Xin, paid a special visit to the General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China, to make a progress report on the digital publishing. Sun Shoushan, the Deputy Administrator, gave high praise to Founder for its great efforts to energetically promote hybrid digital publishing in the national and industrial interest.
　　Mr. Wei Xin started the report by introducing Founder’s history of unremitting innovation. He said that Founder had contributed to the progress of independent innovation of national enterprises. Founder brought a revolution to the publishing industry due to its independent innovation and its world-class technology and products which enabled it to stand out in the competition with the peer companies abroad. Years ago, again, the Group advocated strengthening independent innovation in business and government, thus driving the third innovation wave. With the commanding heights of establishing international competitiveness, enterprises are encouraged to develop creative products with independent brand and intellectual property right.
　　Mr. Wei said, “Hybrid publishing is the “748 Project” in the new era, which is of noticeable importance and influence in developing national publishing industry, protecting China’s cultural security, and maintaining the predominance of platform where ideas are propagated. Founder has accumulated a certain amount of technology in every link of the digital publishing industrial chain. Actually we are not behind foreign countries in the field of digital publishing. With the national support and under the leadership of the General Administration of Press and Publishing, we are confident and also able to bring credit to our motherland by pushing forward the development of national industries with our innovative technology and products in digital publishing. With our strength in publishing technology and a traditional advantage in publishing industry, we will avail ourselves fully of these technological advantages to increase the investment on hybrid publishing project, for national interests and for Peking University’s honor. We are determined to spare no effort to complete the digital hybrid publishing project even though we will not make any profit. Prior to the approval and initiation of the project, we are willing to follow the General Administration’s arrangement more actively, support the pre-project work and map out our work according to the requirement by the General Administration.”
